Park City Food & Wine Classic

by Brady Goodwin 22. May 2010 09:14

If you enjoy the taste and culture of wine and food, you won't want to miss the Park City Food & Wine Classic in the beginning of July. Typically held the first weekend, the Park City Food and Wine Classic is a series of celebrations, auctions, golf tourney, live music, seminars, and an endless supply of great food and wine tastings.

The weekend begins with the Kickoff Celebration at Deer Valley where guests can enjoy a tasting of a variety of wines, paired with dishes from local chefs. Friday morning you can join a golf tournament at Park City Golf Course.

The Canyons will host food and wine seminars all day Friday and Saturday. Friday afternoon enjoy the Stroll of Park City, where hundreds cruise downtown Park City and enjoy live music along the sidewalks and can sample wine and great eats from selected Park City Restaurants. The final event, a Toast to Park City, is hosted by the Canyons on the last night. Enjoy music, wine, delicious food, and good company at the Park City Food and Wine Classic.

July 8-11, 2010 from 9am-10pm daily.

Pond Skimming Contest

by Brady Goodwin 19. March 2010 11:54

The annual Spring Gruv festival is almost in full swing at the Canyons Resort.  The ever popular and never boring Pond Skimming contest will be taking place March 27th.  Mark your calendars as this year promises to be a fun filled series of events.  Multiple events happening on multiple weekends extends the fun of Spring Gruv through the end of the ski season this year!  A light dusting of snow came this morning and left just as quickly.  It can be strange watching a storm blow into town and then watching the wind shift and blow the storm straight back out the way it came in.

If you are taking the free bus to the Canyons resort, don't forget you have to walk from the 7-eleven up the hill!

FRESH SNOW!!!!!!

by Brady Goodwin 25. February 2010 08:27

Our newest group of renters staying in 1206 Pinnacle got an early vacation present last night.  Lots and lots of fresh Utah powder!!!!  Last night agencies were reporting the possibility of 12" of fresh snow today.  Deer Valley Resort reported 5" of new snow and has a base of 75".  Park City Mountain Resort reported 7" of new snow and a 74" base.  The Canyons Resort reported 8" of new snow in the past 24 hours and has a base of 75" as well.  You can visit the NOAA website at www.noaa.gov for a more detailed and complete snow report, also you can view satellite images from here as well.

Snow for Sundance Film Festival 2010!!

by Brady Goodwin 22. January 2010 07:37

The crowds brought the snow with them!  Adding to the normal hustle and bustle of the festival mother nature decided to donate over 1 feet of snow in the past 24 hours.  We are expecting more snow through the weekend and possibly into Monday.  In fact it is still snowing with no signs of letting up in the next few hours.  This got me thinking about what defines the different levels of snow storms.  The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration defines the level of snow storms as the following:

BLIZZARD: Winds of 35 mph or more with snow and
blowing snow reducing visibility to less than
¼ mile for 3 hours or more.

BLOWING SNOW: Wind-driven snow that reduces visibility.
Blowing snow may be falling snow and/or
snow on the ground picked up by the wind.

SNOW SQUALLS: Brief, intense snow showers accompanied
by strong, gusty winds. Accumulation may
be signifi cant.

SNOW SHOWERS: Snow falling at varying intensities for brief periods
of time. Some accumulation is possible.

SNOW FLURRIES: Light snow falling for short durations with little
or no accumulation.
