Once a year to protect and prolong the life of your counter tops we recommend a 3 step process.

1. Strip your countertops while cleaning and prepping the area for step 2.

2. Re-seal the countertop by spraying sealant over the surface and then wiping it clean (similar to waxing a vehicle).

3. Apply 2 coats of polish to the surface for a lasting shine.

To prolong the shine or if you want your counters to look great, use a light spray of windex for a high gloss look prior to a dinner party or just the in-laws coming in town.  Always use a granite cleaner whenever possible so that you do not strip off the sealant with powerful cleaning products, de sanitizers such as lysol or 409 are ok to use sparingly.

With such a porous surface slate tile flooring needs to also be re-sealed at least once a year.  This protects your floor from water damage but also makes it easier to clean up.  The sealer comes in 2 different finishes, matte or glossy, we recommend you look at both types before deciding on doing your entire floor.  One-Two coats are typically necessary depending on the last time the floor was sealed.  The trick to a successfully sealed floor is to not have any "ghosting" or "hazy" tiles, these are very easy to fix and are typically noticeable within 30 minutes of the first application.

Our process for this job is also 3 steps.

1. Move furniture from the floor to another designated area.

2. Clean and prep the floor, vacuum/sweep/mop.

3. Seal the floor.  Check for ghosting and apply second coat if necessary.

As the owner of Vacation Quest, I thought it wise to discuss with my General Contractor the possibility of obtaining the contractor's license.  Deciding to forgoe a test and higher fees, he told me about the handyman exemption.  This exemption allows me to act as a licensed handyman in the State of Utah.  With such a smaller fee and the benefit of licensure this was a no brainer!  While the park city rental market is full of handymen they typically dont have any insurance or license leaving the homeowner with little to no recourse for a poor quality job.  Vacation Quest is now both Licensed & Insured so call us soon if you need any minor or major repair work done!
